Ode to Joy!

On Tuesday, May 10th, "Make a Joyful Noise" Piano Instruction had their Spring Piano Party.  It was a casual recital for the students to show off what they've learned since January.  While we were waiting for the recital to start, Mrs. Thomas had their Christmas Recital DVD playing.  There's are sweet Maddy performing her Christmas music!

Maddy was so excited to perform at the Piano Party, especially since she was going to play five songs! She played God is So Good, The B-I-B-L-E, Rejoice in the Lord Always, Bridal Chorus, and her favorite: Ode to Joy. 

She was by far the youngest there, and she wasn't nervous at all!  She was so cute walking back to her seat!

Mrs. Thomas gave out awards to her students.  Maddy got a Certificate of Promotion for completing Music for Little Mozarts Book 2.  She is actually going to skip Book 3 and move to Faber Lesson Level 1!  She also got a Certificate of Recognition of Practice Hours for the Spring Semester.  Out of the Elementary group K-5, she got 3rd Place for having practiced 14 hours! 

We are so proud of you, Maddy, and give God all the glory for your talent and love for music! 

Sing to the LORD a new song;

Music Makes the Heart Sing!

On Sunday, December 5th, we were very blessed to hear our precious Maddy Faith play the piano in her very first piano recital!  Maddy was so excited and not the least bit nervous!  The recital was held at our church, First Baptist Church of Powell in the Youth Worship Center.  Her teacher, Mrs. Thomas had everything beautifully decorated.

 Maddy played two songs, Jingle Bells and Good King Wenceslas.

After the recital, Mrs. Thomas presented awards to her students.  Maddy received an award of Promotion.  She completed her first two books, Music for Little Mozarts Lesson and Theory Books Level 1 and will be starting Level 2 when they resume in January. 

Maddy absolutely loves playing the piano.  She will go practice on her own especially when she needs a "break" from all of the busyness at our house.  It has brought us such joy listening to her play. 

Thank you, Mrs. Thomas, for instilling a love of music and especially a love for the LORD during your lessons with Maddy.  We are so very proud of you, Maddy, and love how you are glorifying the LORD through your music! 

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Make a Joyful Noise!

Maddy has brought lots of joy into our home this week as she has started practicing the piano!  We have my old piano that I used growing up, so Maddy had been asking to take piano lessons for awhile now.  The LORD was so sweet to open up a door for us to provide her with lessons.  A very godly woman at our church, Lisa Thomas, has taught piano lessons for over 25 years, and I talked to her about wanting to sign Maddy up for lessons. At the time she had a waiting list, but then just recently a spot came open for Summer lessons.  Maddy was so excited, and the countdown began as to when her first lesson would be!  Tuesday, June 8th was Maddy's first piano lesson.  Mrs. Thomas prayed with Maddy before her lesson and asked God to bless her and to use her for His glory!  She is doing very well and wants to practice a lot.  I hope this continues!  Here are her little fingers:

Here is Maddy and her very first book, Alfred's "Music for Little Mozarts."

The book uses stuffed animals, Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse to set the stage for music study.  We are hoping to get those before our next lesson!  Maddy enjoys practicing and showing her sisters and brother what she's learned so far.

We are so thankful for all of the LORD's blessings and for providing our children with godly role models and activities that they can use to glorify Him!
