Preschool is Cool!

Our Katybug is loving Preschool!  She looks forward to getting up and going to school every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  I wanted to share some fun things she did during the month of October.  First was Big Orange day where Katy got to dress in Tennessee colors so she could meet the UT cheerleaders and Smokey.  She borrowed Parker's UT jersey!

Next, she brought home the classroom "Scissors Suitcase."

 Inside of the Scissors Suitcase was special homework.  This involved practicing how to use scissors correctly.

 She was so proud of her paper that she cut out!

 Then we went to Open House at her school.

 Her favorite part of the night (and mine too!!!) was the Book Fair!  She picked out a kitty cat journal so she could practice writing her letters.

On Friday, October 29th, Parker and I got to spend the morning at Katy's school.  First was the Halloween Parade.  Katybug wanted to be a ladybug again this year!

All the kids showed off their costumes by walking across the stage.

 Then we got to help out at her class party making crafts,

 decorating and eating cookies,

 and playing games.

We are enjoying watching Katy grow this year in Preschool. She is learning a lot and making new friends. Each month she and her friends are learning and applying a scripture verse.  We are so proud of how well she is doing and can't wait to see what the next several months have in store for her!   

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Easy as ABC...123!

Our Katybug started school! 

Her first day of Preschool was Friday, August 20th and she was so very excited!  She has been waiting for this day for a very long time!

We picked out a ladybug "pack pack" all the way back in the Spring and had her name monogrammed on it.  We hung it on her "K" hook in the garage and she has been waiting so patiently to use it!

She was so proud to put it on and be a "big" girl!

Katy will be attending West Hills Baptist Church Preschool & Kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year.  She will be going Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30-12:30. 

This is our 5th year at WHBC Preschool & Kindergarten and we have been so pleased.  It is a 20 minute drive from Powell but is definitely worth it.  And the LORD was so sweet to provide Jonathan with a job out in West Knoxville back in 2008, so he will be taking Katy to school in the mornings on his way to work.  It will be great for the two of them to have some father/daughter time in the mornings!

And I had to get one of her in front of the tree right outside the building.  I have one of Lily and Maddy in front of the same tree on both their first days at West Hills.

Katy's teachers are Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Skvara and there will be 14 children in her class.  We had Parent Night last night and I am so excited about this year of growth and learning for Katy.  The LORD couldn't have put her in a better class!  They are very structured and have high expectations.  Her teachers will not only be working on the curriculum, but will also be focusing heavily on manners (they will not pass out snacks without a "yes please"), self help skills and good behavior (following 1st request, listening skills, etc.) They also will be using songs to remind and reinforce rules, and our Katybug loves to sing!

Katy's teachers read "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn.  If you haven't read it, you must!  It is such a precious book and helps with separation anxieties.  Here is Katy's first craft in her new school that went along with the book.  I love hand prints and I will cherish it always!

Most of you know our Katybug and how she has been a challenge for us since the night she was born!  She has been a bit rebellious even at a very young age, and there are days where it begins as soon as she wakes up!  But I am so thankful for that because it has drawn me so much closer to our Maker.  He is so gracious in reminding me that I CAN NOT make it through the day without HIM!  His mercies are new every morning and He is faithful!  (Lamentations 3:22-23)

When I picked up Katy at 12:30 I had prepared myself for her report, and was thrilled when her teachers said she had a great day!  She was the "Special Helper" and did a wonderful job!

Please pray for Katy this year and that she will continue to grow in maturity (self-control, wisdom, and responsibility) and that Jonathan and I will continue to help guide her in her spiritual growth.  We are looking forward to seeing what the LORD has planned for her and our family!

Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Oh, The Places You'll Go!

On Friday, April 30th we went to see our Maddy perform in her Preschool's Spring Musical.  This year the theme was Dr. Seuss. 

Maddy's teachers painted their sweet faces and gave them hats to look like the Cat in the Hat.

Maddy was so happy to see us!

Her class sang two songs, "The Cat Came Back," and "Rain, Rain, Go Away."  It was precious!

We are so proud of you Maddy and have enjoyed watching you grow this school year.  We are praying for you and that you will know that Jesus is with you wherever you go.  Love you sweet girl!

Hippity Hoppity...

Easter's on its way!

Maddy's Preschool had their annual Egg Hunt at school on Friday, March 26th and the Easter Bunny made his appearance!  Of course Maddy informed me that it was just somebody dressed up in a costume (Nothing gets past her!)  As soon as her teachers yelled, "Go!" Maddy was off to find 18 plastic eggs filled with goodies!

The kids were so egg-cited to find all the eggs!  They couldn't believe that there were 300 eggs all together!  Here is Maddy's sweet class:

What a fun day and I was so happy that I got to share it with my Maddy Faith!  Love you, sweet girl!

Maddy's Tellin' It!

On Friday, December 11th, we went to see Maddy sing at the annual Nativity Pageant & Christmas Concert at West Hills Baptist Church Preschool.  She worked so hard and was so very excited that we came to see her perform.  Here she is leaving the pew on her way up to the stage (she had to give her Mommy a big smile!): 

The four year old classes performed two songs.  The first one was Hark the Herald Angels Sing (Traditional; Kristal Bell Method) and each child was given a handbell to play.  (Maddy is in the center of the front row.)

The children were to play their bell when their teacher held up their color card.

We were so proud of Maddy! And I just love watching little children sing songs that tell about Jesus!  Is there anything more precious?
